My daughter has naturally curly hair-- Its great but very hard to control. It gets frizzy alot and most days she has to wear it up..
I'm looking for products that will control this- She wants to wear it down-
Tried CurlLife by matrix (ok-- but still frizzy after playing)
Anyone with curly hair that can help-- and remember she is only 10 so not something harmful to her head..

Hi there! I'm hoping I can help. I only can recommend these products because I use them my self. I use AVONs hair products, and Redken shine. I use Avon straight serum, and have used the straight shampoo. Now for fly aways you have to use a thin layer of mouse. I've used all kinds, it doesn't matter what brand, any kind will do! I hope I helped!

I have naturally wavy/curly hair, and it tends to frizz alot. I use Pantene Shampoo and Conditoner or Tresemme Products and they seem to help, and for the days that the humidity is really bad, I have used Curls Up Gel (I buy it at Walmart), Frizz-Ease, and on a daily basis I use Pantene Spray in Conditioner (you leave it in and style your hair). I personally think the best of the three for me is the spray in conditioner, but I do use it everyday, it helps with tangles...there are none after using it, LOL, and I dont get frizzy hair, but if I dont use it I have a poof ball!

try using Biosilk. Silk Thearpy. I get it from a hair saloon. It does great stuff for frizzy hair. My sister uses it on my 4 year old neice she also has curly hair.

If she is trying to style her hair curly then I would recommend using some aveda products. I am 30 years old and have lived with it all my life! so I have tried just about everything out there to help with it. I don't know what she likes but she might want to try some gels/mousses/serums. The latest combo I try is "Be Curly" and "Flax Seed Aloe" both by Aveda. I first put the Be Curly on then the Flax Seed Aloe (which is a strong holding sculpturing gel by the way). Then I diffuse my hair. (has she tried a diffuser by the way?) Diffusers can help with her curles as well.
I use to just use mousse and spray gel on my hair. I think I used Garnier Fructese mousse and spray gel. Those worked good. Also Panteen has a Friz Control ultra smoothing balm that works good for those "straight hair" days. Use a little bit of that, blow dry your hair straight then take a straightening iron to your hair and bam! Nice smooth hair.
I would also highly recommend taking her to a salon (not a place like supercuts or some mom and pop hair cut place) but a real salon (aveda salons) that can give her a flattering hair cut and can teach her how to manager her curls! That is the real trick is knowing how to deal with them. Heck, I am 30 and just barely learned a few years ago how to deal with them! Layering her hair might also help with managing the frizz as well!

I have the same hair. Like Shannon76 I have tried it all.
Also look for a line of products by TiGi. (Toni and Guy) Within the TiGi line there is a group of products called Curls Rock. Several products to choose from and they all work. It will be a matter of finding what she likes the feel of best.
Also, from the Aveda line that Shannon mentioned is a wonderful product that is an antihumectant (I think that is the word). I use it when I know I will be in high humidity like at a beach.
Bless her heart at 10 already dealing with this. I was in my late teens before my out of control curls really set in. Someday she will grow to love those curls. But trust me, that will not make her feel better hearing anyone say that.

My daughter doesn't have extremely curly hair but her hair is very full and wavy. She uses a whole lot of different products on her hair. She loves using the spray in conditioner. A couple of different companies make it. It doesn't make the hair oily and controls the frizz.
If you see a lot of loose fly away hairs need the top of her head this is cause from brushing th hair when it's wet. This is what the hair dresser told my daughter. I'm not eactly sure what a person is suppose to do. LOL He just said put your product/leave in conditioner in your hair and blow dry with out brushing. He also suggested not using mousse because it's for body which is something my daughter doesn't want. After the hair he dry you can brush and add other products.
I actually had a hair dresser post on my blonde/gray hair post. Maybe she can reccommend something. Her id is kkssbbmm123

Both me and my daughter have curly hair that gets really frizzy with humidity. It didn't bother me when I was her age, but it bothers her a lot. I got her frizz ease and it helped a bit. Every once in a while, at a special occasion or something important for her, a trip to the hair dresser can do wonders just by straightening it with the brush and hairdryer. It doesn't last forever but it helps for at least a week:)

have you tried a hair straightener? it`s a flat iron. sort of like a curling iron but it is straight. you plug it in and put your hair through it and it makes it straight.

Ths is a hard one,I grew up in the sixties, the days of long straight hair. Cury hair and frizz seem to go hand in hand. Some of the things I have tried, have been pomades{have to be careful sometimes makes hair look oily}I can't remember the brand I used to get,it was designed for curly hair. I still have a few of those bad hair days.

Beleive me we have tried alot of products-- alot of brands-- I'm thinking we'll have to go to the salon and see if they can thin it out and then buy salon products! She just wants to wear her hair down- Wouldn't be too bad if she wasn't so active--
thanks for the comment!

Everyone's hair tends to be different, even curly hair. My daughter and I both have curly hair and it never seems that the same product works well on both. The best thing I've used yet for keeping the frizz down is mousse. I believe it's Finesse in a black can that I use most often. If you want to keep it soft and curly there is a product out there called Straightening Milk. It takes some of the curl out but not all and allows for a softer touch curl.
Best bet is to try different products and don't be swayed by price. There are often tons of products out there that work better than the over priced ones that specialize and you not only can get them cheaper but they're easier to find.
My biggest suggestion is to try different brands of Mousse.

Yes I noticed that cutting it doesn't work-- It just frizzes up more-- plus she wants to keep it long like her friends- I have straight hair- not sure where her curls came from.
I'll try aussie--
I almost thought of going to a salon and having them straighten it but I thought we;d wait for a bit til she was a bit older..
They did say they could thin it out and it wouldn't be so frizzy-- I think that might be our next step.

My youngest daughter has always had the same problem. She is grown now and still hates her curly hair. We found that the best thing to use was Paul Mitchel Moose. You can get it at the beauty shop that is located inside most superwalmarts. They make several formulas. I forget what formula shw uses. I have purchased it for her many times but I just cant think of it now. Anyway use it on her hair while it is wet and it keeps it from frizzing and you can style it so much easier. Good luck

Oh do I feel for her. My hair has straightened itself out over time, but it still has the frizzy. I don't know anything very great for stopping curls and frizz, but I do know something that works wonders on how my hair feels.
If her hair is damaged, this might help it stop some of the frizz. It's by Pantene and it's called "intensive restoration treatment". It costs almost $4 at walmart. It moisturizes the hair, repairing damange and helping to protect it. When I use it, my hair isn't usually frizzy and it becomes pretty managible.
Good luck with her hair. I hope you can find SOMETHING to help with the curls and frizz!

Right now we have switched to Pantene Healthy curls shampoo and conditioner-- It really leaves her hair not snarly-- Love it-- I will definitly look for this stuff--- Anything to help with frizzy hair--
I feel bad because she wants to leave it all down but then it looks terrible by the end of the day-- so she wears it up alot.
All of her friends love the curls- LOL

Curly hair isn't so bad. imagine how many girls out there would kill to have your daughter's locks! Besides, relaxing, perming and other permanent salon hair treatments can really damage her hair because of the chemicals that are used especially that she's still young. Instead of trying to change the way her hair looks, try working with what she's got. Invest in hair care products that are specially made for that type of hair--curl enhancing shampoos help fight frizz while bringing out her pretty waves. Conditioner will also soften her hair's texture. Right after towel-drying her hair in the morning, divide it into sections and twirl and pin up the sections. Leave it like this until it dries. When you let your hair down, you'll see her hair as lovely as Goldilocks' and not as messy as Medusa's! You can also use frizz-control serum to tame the loose ends throughout the day. But most importantly, start telling her to love her hair just as it is and to flaunt it proudly!
