Should I have friend visited by the law?

A friend of mine owes me about $1,500 that he borrowed July 2006. We sometimes still meet, but usually communicate via mobile phone although it is quite hard to get through to him. He has told me all sorts of lies and sweet talk about paying up following week, and stuff like that. I'm running out of patience. Someone suggested that I involve the law. But I know this will effect a chain reaction as he owes a lot of other people too. Should I go ahead and get "my pound of flesh" by using the court bailiffs, or should I keep listening to his "tomorrow" stories and promises?

Just explain to your friend that if he doesnt at least start paying you something a month or whatever your going to have to force the law into it...I am sure your friend would understand, and you dont have to tell anyone else unless your friend decides to..But you are being such a sweetie by letting your friend borrow all that, i cant believe he/she hasnt paid you something by now.

i don't play games when it comes to money. my grandmother once told me, don't lend out more then you are willing to give away. i have lived my life by that. so i only let people borrow $20 from me. anything more then that we have to write up a promisary note. I say take his butt to court and make him pay you your money

I lent a friend 1000 dollars and I listened to all the same crap that you are and this was 6 years ago. needless to say I never recieved this money so if I were you I would take him to small claims court. If you do not you will most likely never see your money again.
