What make a criminal

After our experiences of the last couple of weeks i started thinking what does make a person become a criminal. Most people would not steal no matter what the circumstances for instance.Say you are in another city and you found out that a close member of your family was very very sick but you had no money to get back to see them. What would you do ,ask friends for money ask family for money but would you consider stealing a car ,not many would .yet there are people who for no reason steal cars ,sure some do it for money but others just for fun.If you were out shopping and your dress or trousers somehow got badly torn so bad that they were about to fall off and you were exposed you have no money to buy new clothes ,most people would not even think of stealing something to wear,so what makes a person just go into a shop and steal clothes when they don't really need them . We go shopping all the time and it never even enters our heads to steal so what makes other people steal for no reason often they are wealthy .Could it be a chemical imbalance that makes people steal what makes people steal and never learn by their mistakes

I really do not know the answer to this but I would say it also depends on a Persons Background I had no money for a while but I rather did not eat for a week then go and stel and this is true I went a week with just having a slice of Toast so my Kids had enough and yes I know they are Adults but they still come first when it comes to Food and this was only 6 months ago but I would have never thought of going and stealing and neither would my Kids so I really do not know what posses People to do it

If I was in another state and needed to get to a close member I would ask my friends, and well a lot of people become criminals as they want more than they are receiving in the way of their incomes, so they decide to steal, and sometimes when they have no reason to steal and they do have money then they must have a chemical imbalance that makes them want to steal.

Most people are like you but the criminals just seem to have a different set of morals and rules

I do not know what it is but believe it is how some people get their "kicks" or "thrills" because in many instances it is not because they actually need to steal from others. It has nothing at all to do with upbringing or background or else if one person in the family was a thief, then all of them would be. That is not the case though. It is all too easy to say it is upbringing or being poor but as adults these people have a choice. Nobody forces them to steal but this is what they choose to do. I really have no idea what makes a criminal and to ask any of them, they would certainly be able to "justify" their reasons to the do-gooders etc. Not to me though, having been the victim when the thieves destroyed what they couldn't steal.

Increasing rate of Unemployment is the major problem of increasing crime rate. Consider a situation when the qualified young graduate remains unemployed for longer period after he completed his education. His family has lot of expectations from him and to satisfy their expectations, he can go up to any extent and cross any limit just in desire of small payment. At this stage, he is not in a position to make a correct decision between what is just and what is unjust, but he don't want to miss any of the opportunity that life is giving him and in this feeling only he accepts those offers which can change his life and can break their social and moral ethics and they are ready to commit crimes, they are ready to kill a person, they are ready to accept any offer that can prove to be a earning money source for them. Domestic violence is another consequence of unemployment. It may even result in aggression and or murder. And this major unemployed segment of society is the main source for crime. No criminal is by birth a criminal but it is the circumstances which make him do it. But this problem is mainly associated with the developing countries. So what about developed countries? Do they not commit crimes? No they also commit crimes. Even the crime rate is higher in developed country like USA than other developed countries of the world. Police statistics suggests that the number of S** and Violent Crime Offenders continues to raise.

High ambitions are also the one source for crime. A person who has high ambitions like if he wants to enjoy all the comforts of life or wants to achieve the high status in his life, he wanted to complete them at any cost and any unfair means to fulfill his wish. To make his wishes come true or to enjoy the luxuries of life he can come in the way of crime as this seems to be an easy mean to earn money for them and when they do crime for the first time then the 'advantages' of crime compel them to commit such acts again and again and now if they want to come back they can't be their way back to path of justice and honesty.

I too became a victim of theft several times, I lost two mountainbikes and a number of luggage. What makes a man a thief or a criminal? Reasons can be economic, sociological, pyschological or even political. Several factors play a part in a man's action. As a layman, I can only name a few. Some people do it because of pressing need for money and they have no other sources, others are driven by purely neurotic impulses, no economic reason at all, they find satisfaction in stealing, these are the kleptomaniacs. Some argues that being a thief is genetically predisposed, to which I don't agree. Anyway, I believe that several researches have already been done on this subject by criminologists and law enforcement agencies. It will be interesting to read a publication on this subject.

What i find interesting is the fact that no matter how desperate for money you can be most people would not steal or even think of stealing so why do others steal what makes them different

This is a very good topic. Society by an large should try to understand what makes a criminal, situation or habit or anything else? I think it's a combination of situation, finding some easy solution and getting away with the first crime. Given in the situations you described above most people will not do the wrong things except those who have a mind of criminal. They do not think about the consequences, they think they do not have to stand in front of the Lord. This makes the difference. I think only to some extent it is the upbringing and the environment where the person brought up is also responsible for the criminal mind.

Maybe out of desperation sometimes, maybe just because they want something and are too lazy to work for it, it is a horrible feeling when you are robbed, it takes something from inside away from you a faith or trust that you never get back.

For some it is a mental disorder. It becomes habitual. They start out small and work up to bigger things. The thrill of not getting caught spurs them on. Even when they get caught they tend to try again. The term is cleptomania.

some people steal due to poverty, some coz of the thrill stake at it,and some maybe due to some illness..those in need of money never think that its a mistake or a crime what they think is how to survive in an easy way...every criminal have their own motives...maybe it be psychological or a need..

There are a lot of reason why people tend to commit crime. Proverty is of the more frequently use excuse for commiting such acts, another reason boils down to the psychological nature of the person "Cliptomania". Others do it for fun and to chalenge themeselves if they could get away with it.

Well, what on earth make a person become a criminal? In my view of point,I think it's a psychological disease. For some poor man,it's a kind of way to meet their desire for money. But for some wealthy person I have to say that it's a kind of disease. They are pretty hollow in their bottom of heart. They wanna meet their stimulation. If they dont steal they are upset and worried.Just like smokers if they dont smoke, they feel unwell.Controlled by disease.

We had a woman in our town who was a thief. Every time she'd go shopping, she'd steal. No reason for it. A very wealthy family, I'm talking they are worth millions, so you can rule poverty out. But maybe, poverty in another area of her life. She stopped doing it.

Some criminals are born into the life because the family are full of criminals ...... some just grow up in a house full of them ..... some get no discipline at home or school and are allowed to run wild then get with the wrong people and end up with a conviction so they cannot get a good job. Others are evil through and through and nobody knows why they are like this. Some people start out taking little things when they are still children or see others doing it, so they do too. When they get away with it the first few times, they get more brazen and take bigger and more expensive things or hurt people more or whatever they do.

It's all a combination of social conditioning and circumstances. Anyone can be brought up or come up with out moral inhibitions... But, starve a man and I guarantee you he'll steal if he has to.

maybe because they dont have self control in there desires they want to get that thing though they dont have any money to get it and maybe because of there family background it could reflect their lives.
