I agree, I think the second season is going to focus more on Doakes and his suspicion of Dexter. I also agree that if Deb does find out about Dexter that she would be on his side rather than turning on him, she has always been all about family, especially since Dexter is the last of her family left. I believe that Dexter is always tempted to break Harry's code, but that he also realizes that if wants to continue doing what it is he does that he has to follow the code.
I read the books before there was ever talk of there being a series, and they have followed the books closely but have also left out a few key things, so it will be interesting to see how they handle them next season, I can't wait. Speaking of next season, does anyone know when the season is supposed to start?

According to a press release from Showtime, 12 new episodes will be filmed in the spring and will premiere on Showtime "later in 2007." I take later to probably mean around the same time it premiered this season, in October. But that might change.
If you're interested in Dexter, I run the DexterShowtime discussion group on yahoo (egroups.com/group/dextershowtime). As soon as I know when it will definitely premiere, I'll post to the group.
I'd really love it if they premiered it in the summer instead of the fall. I can't wait to see Season 2! :)

yes but Harry broke his own code while he didnt say a word to Dexter about his brother
Sgt Doakes will surely follow Dexter for now on - especialy after what was shown in last few minutes of last episode - he was sitting and watching Dexter all the time :)

Over the weekend I watched the first season, because I heard so many good things about it! I was pleaseantly surprised with the finaly as it tied things together a lot more than most season finallys do! I really thought they used their best idea this season using the brother angle... I think they wanted it to be a success so they went for the home run in season one! I bet whatever they do it will be great! I agreee with the suggestions so far, I kind of lean towards some guilt inside him for killing his brother... I think he'll stick to Harry's rules though, they have kept him alive to this point!

i think that there going to go along with the 2nd book. i love this show and everyone i see i tell them they need to start watching it. its a great idea. i cant believe that the next season isnt set to start until next fall. im going through withdrawl. they just stopped showing the repeats on showtime on demand.

I believe they're going to follow the plot of the second book, but I don't have a clue how they're going to do it, as it's pretty gruesome - worse than the Ice Truck Killer and it'll involve Doakes.
I don't think Dexter will start to violate Harry's rules. Even though he's apparently grown very disenchanted with Harry, he still picked his adoptive sister over his real brother. The rules are very much a part of him, he can't shake them off that easily
