Who speaks up for the animals that are abused? They cannot scream or defend themselves from humans. It breaks my heart. What can be done about these abusers of animals? I rate all responses. Thank you.

It's unfortunate that so many animals are abused. The only way to stop it is to keep reporting it. There are several places to report abuse. But I know depending on where you live, it may not be followed through on. Many organizations only have juristriction in certain states. I can only speak for the US. Here are some links if anyone needs them or would like to get more information. http://www.pet-abuse.com/pages/home.php http://www.pet-abuse.com/pages/home.php

I do what I can myself. I have a very odd collection of critters on my farm. If I was not bringing home a goat or a dog or some poor old nag from an auction, it was my kids. It's mostly a retirement home for the unwanted. Or a haven for the abused. What amazes me most is how these animals will learn to love and trust again.

Bless you dear. It is good to hear that they can trust and love again. It is so inhumane what some humans will do to these darling animals. We are the worst animal alive.

Count me in. It's really heart-breaking to know or watch such incidents. They are really shocking. From my experience I have observed that it's about few people who are not very attentive and huamne to the sentiments of animals. It's all about feeling for others. I believe anyone who loves others will also love animals and will not abuse them.

I think that people who abuse animals should be strung up. These people have a serious problem and they should be made to pay dearly for this crime.

i watch animal planet alot and they have those animal cops shows on there, and when some makes a complaint about animal abuse they usually take the animal away and if severe enought it goes before a judge and they get fined I have already seen some people go to jail for animal abuse.

I'm with you. It just breaks my heart, and it seems like most animal abusers are simply slapped with a fine and get their animals taken away. Wow, what a punishment... I haven't seen animal abuse anywhere but on television, but if I did, I'd sure report it.

I'm glad you would. There is so much out there it sickens me. Those poor animals at the hands of human animals. Just doesn't seem fair. All they offer is love.

If we see or hear about people abusing animals we should be calling our local agencies that deal with animal abuse and cruelty so that they can take action against these horrible people and protect our beautiful pets and animals. Here have the SPCA and the Humane Society and am sure there are other agencies out there that could help prevent animal abuse. It breaks my heart as well as i watch Animal Planet quite often.

I am actively involved with PETA, Greenpeace, and the SPCA. I pettition, write letters, protest, etc on issues that I feel are unjust.

I suppose the main thing we can do is report abuse or suspected abuse to the RSPCA or similar department they same way we would report child abuse. It is sad that the penalties for abuse of aniimals are so low. It doesn't seem to dissuade perpetrators though. I am with you. I cry when I read about young people drowning or burning kittens. There was an instance not long ago when a group of defence force soldiers tied kittens to the back of their truck and dragged them around the base. Horrible. They at least got fined heavily and jail sentences I think. Disgusting behaviour from people that are trained to defend our country!!!
