What do you say about the new rating system from Mylot???

Today morning i opened Mylot and saw a new alert,it was stated like this : Mylot has developed a new algorithm that now ranks a user’s reputation. The myLot reputation rating takes into account various factors including discussion ratings and is based on a scale of 0 to 10 stars with 10 stars being the highest. These stars currently appear next to usernames in discussions. Users with a user rating of less than 100 will not yet have myLot reputation calculated, and will therefore have no star next to their name. I think that this system is intoduced by mylot to encourage mylot users to post quality topics, responses and comments and avoid posting low-quality content or items that violate the myLot community guidelines. What do u think

I definitely love this new change in myLot and hopefully it will get people to create quality discussions and better replies and comments. I like this idea and the good members and new members can tell who is active and gives good advice, suggestions and discussions. Only time will tell if this will work but I like the new look here.

I started a same discussion a few minutes before. So dont thin i copied you. I dont know how they calculated it. But i am happy with the ratings. I have got the same as you. I have 9th rating. Would love to reach the number one rating. Will do that. will reach that goal. I think this is a good sign, a lot of implements and improvements happening in mylot. Site is gg=etting famous day by day, so i am sure it will be the number one site like other sites.

I haven't read anything in that alert about any kind of monetary incentive. I think it's a good idea but, ultimately, it's not really going to do anything unless there is some money to back up these ratings. Hopefully they will give a little more incentive so that we can be rewarded for the effort it takes to make quality posts.

if there is a monetary incentive for every star rating then that's great. that will encourage mylot users to spend more time in mylot and post quality discussions and responses.

I think the move is good. I also feel there should be some financial incentive for higher quality commentators. Probably mylot could follow the frequent flier system of airlines. At Silver level I get 10% bonus on all points earned. At gold level I get 30 % bonus and at platinum level I get 50% bonus.

though it did not really mention anything if it will boost or help in anyway to ones earnings, i say it is one good way also to keep this site a good one. involving each member to do their part in making this community 'clean' from those not so good threads and or members. greetings. : )

I think its good..but maybe discouraging for those who have lesser rank. but hence forth they'd have to start quality discussions in order to increase their quality.

I think it is great because I feel someone in my lot is noticing if we post or respond following the guidelines and not cheating.

I don't think it's a bad idea, except that i have 604 posts, and i don't see any stars next to my name. Why is that? Did they start with the stars already?

I dont see a star next to mey name does that mean I dont have one yet? I have more than 100 posts but just barely so maybe I dont have a reputation yet. Does this mean if people rate me good I can get a star? What does the star do for you do you get paid more?

i guess this is an good idea, but not sure how it can motivate user to post quality discussions. this is just a point, doesn't have anything to do with your incentive. here most of the people doesn't know each other. so got 10 and who got 2 doesn't make any sense to me! Why i will try to enhance my own score? By enhanceing the my own point what the benefit i will get ? - mylot should answers this two questions. that is the reason yahoo massenger didn't get a great success. they also have the point system and it no way going to benefit the user. it just a stamp. until and unless user are directly affected by the point system, this not going to help to improve the quality of post. A distribution pattern can be followed by this point system. for example, who has point between 8 to 10 they will get 20% of extra on the base rate people usually get for a response, similarly 5 to 7 will get 10% extra and 1 to 5 will get the base rate. What do you think this will help to increase the quality of post ?

yes this system can boost mylot users to provide quality posts and discussions, also i agree with your distribution system, that is a good thinking..i think my lot, using this pattern that u have said ,can increase the incentives for the users..good luck buddy

I believe the system is just a reflection of the ratings we are getting and aren't we already being compensated accordingly? I think it's a great thing... I just can't wait to get to 100 so I can get a star too!! lol :)
