What does this New Star mean?

I recieved an alert as well.Basically the star is an indication on how well you are recieved in the Mylot community.It basically goes on whether the commmunity likes your discussions and/or responses.

There was actually an alert put out by myLot some weeks ago and it was all explained in there, but like many of these things there are still some misconceptions judging by the number of discussions about falling star ratings etc. Basically the star rating is your myLot reputation, i.e. how you are viewed by other members of myLot. It takes into account the best responses, as well as ratings, i.e. positive (+) or negative (-) given to your discussions as well as the responses to other discussions Of course this is subject to some abuse, because if someone were to suddenly like you then could rate all your discussions and/or responses positive. However the reverse also applies, so although the star rating can be a good idea, it does not tell the whole story as far as I am concerned. For me the reputation of a member of myLot is determined by the quality of their discussions and the responses they make and I make my own decision about that one. Most members will of course by honourable, but there is a possibility that some will abuse the system. I only hope that myLot has some sort of checks and balance system in place in case of abuse of the system. Nobody can get a star rating until the have a rating of 100 and then it will start on the lower end of numbering but can of course increase with more activity. In my opinion, for what it is worth, judge a person by the quality of the discussions they start as well as the responses they make to other discussions. For example, if I considered someone to be abusive and obnoxious I would not respond to their discussions, regardless of what their star rating was. Just put that down to my advancing years if you like but I am a "mature" aged person who has learnt what I will tolerate and what I will not. :)

Go to todays top discussions and scroll through the pages . Mylot has got a discussion posted about it there i found it there a minute ago so it was on page 9 but it might be on another page now.

I received an alert pinklilly to explain it and as kyliepops has stated, this is the reason for the star. You may receive an alert soon as well!

It took us a while to figure out ..... but when we got to 100 we got a little star ...... I was told by the person who referred us that it is how we are viewed by the myLot community ..... it is according to the discussions and responses ..... what other people rate us for them and if it is rated as good the star will rise. Read the other answers anyway and they seem to say the same sort of thing ..... just different words for everyone.

it was sent in an alert to me but i cant post it here, its basically a rating out of 1-10 for all users over 100, so i might get one soon!!!

Did you read your alerts? It's just a rating system where you can see which users are more highly regarded in the MyLot community.

as any member get total posts more then 100 then there is an alert which show your rating regarding your progress of discussions.
