A truly intelligent and diverse woman, as she is a playwright, author, actress, poet, and so much more. Through her insights, I am inspired...through her words I am motivated. I fell in love with her work when I received the poem "Phenomenal Woman" as a gift. I wanted to know who was this woman that wrote such an astounding piece...so profound and true. From that day on...I wanted to write, to express myself through poetry, and I kept my word. She is truly my idol. If you enjoy Dr. Angelou's work, what is your favorite piece? Or who is your all time favorite poet/writer? Why?

I have read her autobiographies as a child; I have truly enjoyed them, and remembered writing her a letter letting her know how much I truly liked them; She came to my city last September, but wasn't able to go; I also love "Phenomenal Woman" as well. I said it at a gathering and the folks liked it.

Hi! I have recently read Maya Angelou's life story in the three books "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings", "Gather Together in my Name", and "Singin' and Swingin' and Getting Merry Like Christmas" and my admiration for her grew because she has gone through a lot in her life and she emerged victorious as a very strong woman of character. I love her book "Wouldn't Take Nothing For My Journey Now" because she shared so many insights there that really spoke to me. I actually wrote down the particular quotes I really like and shared it with friends in my blog. You can see the post in www.writermom.multiply.com. I'm glad that I've found another admirer of Dr. Angelou here :)
