why is our society against love

if you would have noticied our parents always have a problem with who so ever we like.sometimes it is on the basis of religion,otherwise character and sometimes age but there is always a problem. i like a girl who is a year older than me and she loves me back.we two were going around but our parents found out and they want us to be seaprated just because she is older than me.does that makes sense to you at all.if you have any such experience please share it with me,it would inspire me greately
