I have received an email from a colleague who suggested that I should write an I.C.E. contact on my mobile number. It means In case of emergency. You can write your next of kin so that if anything happens to you, that person will be immediatedly informed. What do you think of this idea?

I think that is a great idea!!! But would everyone know if I labeled it as I.C.E.? Or should it be labeled as In Case of Emerg.? I never really thought about it. I am sure they would look at my phone and probably only know to call my mother since she is the only one listed in my phone book as a relation. My partner and my sister are both listed by their names. So, if I labeled on with Emergency conact, then I think one would not have a problem knowning with person to call. Takes! I think that is a great idea!!!

Let's say your next of kin's name is Rose and her cell number is 79123456. I would insert I.C.E. prior to your next of kin's name. So in your mobile number it should looks like this - I.C.E. Rose 79123456. First Aiders should know what I.C.E. stands for and it might save your life.

I think you should have I.C.E contact. I have it in my phone so whenever need everything that was in emergency i can call them. i think it should be a doctor or maybe a police contact. so if anything happen you can contact them immediately.

Ideally an ICE contact should be a person who knows you well, who knows what medical treatment you might be on etc. First aiders, doctors need to know medical information about you to make the best decisions in a span of a few minutes to save your life.

I have it in my phone - actually 2 numbers are under ICE...just in case. I think it's a very sensible idea! I go out regularly without my wallet (say down the pub or something and I'm worried about losing it) so I don't always have id on me...but I always have my phone. So if I'm ever in an accident the ambulance officers/police don't have to try and guess who to call from all the numbers on my phone.
