I prefer listening to some old mellow music to make me sleepy. Although old songs really are wonderful still they make me sleepy. Or I might choose not having background music after all.

to fall asleep, i think that new age and ambient instrumental music is great for background...anything from kitaro to main. sometimes i fall asleep to anything though, even noisy rock music or avant garde jazz - i just turn the volume down lower than i normally would listen to it!
