Does a mild winter equal a hot summer?

So far this years winter weather has been very mild. I know this past summer was one of the hottest summers we have ever had on record. Do you think that this years winter was affected by last summers weather or that this summers weather will be affected by the mild winter we are experienceing this year? I think the weather itself is very cyclical and in a few years time we will have one of the cooler summers and winters that we have had in a long time. I also think that we are due in the next few years for a lot of rain and snow again. What are your thought's on this weather and weather patterns?

I've heard this season's weird weather is due to El Nino. While it's milder in the Northeast where I am, it's harsher than usual other areas. I got delayed going to Albuquerque, NM for Christmas becase the airport was closed by a snowstorm, unusual for that city. About 10 days later, the city got over a foot of snow, which may be the largest they've ever gotten. I don't know if the weather where I am will be warmer, or just more freakish and unpredictable!

You would figure the weather would balance itself out in other places around the world or even other parts of the country. I just hope that for the hot months that it stays closer to normal rather then being hotter.

They suck for the weather that is I have almost had an ongoing cold. for the last month with the warm and then the cold. one thing nice I hope is that it will be fair when I do my move at the end of January. Now as for weather I think this upcomming summer is going to be even hotter than the last unless this cycle stops.

I am arfaid that you may be right about this summer as well. I spend a lot of time outside in the summer and being outside when it is 100 plus degrees is crazy. I hope the weather straightens itself out before those moneths get here.

The weather seems to be crazy world over. Where we are I've seen buds on the trees!!!! And at this time of year should be frozen with snow. I really hope this does not mean another brutal summer!

Well it finally snowed this week! It sure beats the really cold rain that we have been getting all winter long so far! I just hope the hot weather doesn't translate over into July when I will be spending most of my time outside.

It may have to do with the fact that it's supposed to be an el nino year, and makes it warmer than normal... But the last time it seemed like it was raining all the time! I also always wonder about the whole greenhouse stufff, but they always think it's going to happen and it really hasn't affected us so far...

It has been reall ymild this year. Wearing short sleeves in January and being comfortable is crazy in the northeast. In canada I have been able to go out in just a sweatshirt and be comfortable. The weather has only finally turned cold today. For this time of year it is still very mild. I just hope this doesn't lead to a hotter summer then we had last year, because I know I was miserable with all of that heat.

You get a couple of days per year where the temperature gets way above normal, but this year it has stayed warm for weeks at a time.

Yeah, it crept over 80 here the past couple days, but that's normal anytime of year... Today it actually cooled off again and I hear there's a bit of rain on the way! I hope it doesn't mean a drought! I'm not the best at water conservation, so hopefully I won't have to worry about it next summer!
