I was stunned to discover that over 1.2 billion people in the world do not have clean water to drink. There are 1.6 billion people that do not have electricity. Do you take these things for granted in your life? What do you think would be the best way to help these people? Is this the government's responsibility or can the free enterprise system make a difference?

Yes, I do take these things for granted. I think most of us do. There really is a huge disparity between many people. Third world and developing countries have a long way to go . The larger countries really should do something about these issues--but it is not just a simple quick fix. But to answer your question, I definitely take these things for granted, these luxuries of living.

In our country regarding electricity and water Government is responsible. I feel really sorry for the people who do not have such essential services, as good citizens we can pay our taxes but government should use this taxes wisely for the provisions.

I must say that free enterprise system is not good for anyone. We saw with comunism that there is nothing free and for all. Lack of fresh water and electricity is not a fault of any normal goverment. They just can't spend bilions of dollars to make some country in fro example Africa have fresh water if they have to take care of their citizens!
