Rice is like potatoes. If you have it on hand, you can create a great side dish anytime. this is a great all purpose mix to use with rice to make it yummy every time. That fresh smell of the spices make you so hungry, you can hardly contain yourself. It you don't have an ingredient, substitute something else, but it is excellent just the way it is. Ready, grab the rice and spices and let's get started! Almonds, spices adn rice just seem to go together. This is great to put in a gift basket. I love making mixes for my gift baskets. They are always well received. Enjoy! Rice Seasoning Mix 1 cup sliced almonds, couarsely chopped 1/2 cup chicken bouillion granules 1/2 cup dried parsley flakes 1 tablespoon dried basil 1 tablespoon dill weed 1 tablespoon minced onion 1 teaspoon seasoned salt 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning Remember to label it immediately so you dont forget what it is. Additional Ingredients: 1 cup uncooked long grain rice 2 cups water Combine the first nine ingredients. Store in an airtight container. Yield: 10 batches (2 cups total) To prepare rice: Combine 3 Tablespoons seasoning mix, rice and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover adn simmer for 20 min. or until the water is absorbed. Yield 4-6 servings per batch.

sounds great! I don't like to buy the boxed rice mixed, the sodium content is SO HIGH, same with canned soup. I make my own soup because of this. I'll try your recipe, it sounds yummy......

I do the same thing. I make all my soups mixes from scratch. I freeze some in small containers for quick meals. I love to do OAMC and making mixes is part of my plan. I hope you like the recipe.

That sounds like a great recipe here is another one. Rice Seasoning Mix 6 tbsp. onion flakes 6 tbsp. parsley flakes 3 tbsp. celery flakes 4 1/2 tsp. garlic flakes 3/4 tsp. ground turmeric, coriander or cumin 3/4 tsp. black pepper Place onion flakes, parsley flakes, celery flakes, garlic flakes, coriander and pepper in a 1 pint preserving jar. Store mixture in a cool, dark, dry place, keeps up to 3 months. Shake well. For each cup long grain white or brown rice, use 1/3 cup rice, seasoning mix and 1 teaspoon salt. then cook according to package directions.

Sounds like it would be great I am going to try it for sure I love rice. Can I make up several "batches " of the spices ahead of time and keep or should I make one at a time when ready to use?? I always have rice on hand so just curious...

You only use a small amount for each recipe. I keep several on hand at all times. I have even been know to cook potatoes for a few minutes then roll them in this mixture and put on a cookie sheet that has been oiled with olive oil and bake till browned.
