Why do people smile without reason?

going through different researches and observing people. i came to know that most of the people smile when they feel uncomfortable, just to show kindness, just to be like others who is happy go lucky type and is liked by others.

Then they are not smiling for no reason at all. They are smiling because they feel uncomfortable as you've said. I sometimes smile to myself when I think of a something funny that happened to me or if I suddenly remember something which made me happy.
