I never wanted to do this on mylot but i must rant about this. Last night while sitting at my computer i had the TV on listening to the News..and a Special Report came on, which turned out to be a speech from the President. Whos strategy is to send 21,000 more troops off to war. WHY? So they can die and we can waste more money on a lost cause? Dont get me wrong, im not bashing the troops, they have a job to do..no matter how i feel about the war..and I pray for them..but this war has just gotten to be ridiculous. We've been there how long? 4 years or more..i lost count..and its still the same..but yet for some reason our president think sending more troops over is gonna bring Peace. That is the stupidest thing i've ever heard. Lets make peace by makin War...i expected nothing less from our president. We, including our idiot president, need to open up our eyes and realize that this is a lost cause. We went over, we tried to help, they dont want it.All i heard in peoples opionions last night on the news was "we cant leave, half of the worlds oil is there"..what a stupid reason to take innocent human life and waste more of our tax dollars. As far as i know they have a running Gov't over in Iraq now, that we helped set up.. its time we leave it up to them. Instead of wasting money on fighting, maybe give some money to train a police force, an army..yada yada yada. Maybe use the money we're spending to take innocents out of Iraq and move them elsewhere. I dont really have a solution, all i have is my opinon and what i feel we could do (mentioned above) but stayin In iraq is not good..we are just going to make a bigger debt and a bigger death toll Thank you for listening

I think everyone has the right to their opinion by all means. This war has most certainly gotten out of hand. It is quite ridiculous that we are still over there. I think our president's diplomacy in this situation has gone extremely downhill. Unfortunately it seems that we spend more time helping others then helping ourselves. This country has issues of it's own that need fixed. Financial, employment, government, education, etc. And yet we are fighting, taking lives for all the wrong reasons. Instead we should be more diplomatic. Instead of fighting for oil, I don't see what the problem would be in striking a deal. Seeing if there is any kind of trade that we could make for their oil. Perhaps some resource that this country has access to that we could help them with. Now that they have their own government we should let them see how they can handle it instead of holding their hands like children and guiding them through it. If they want their new government system to work, then they will find a way to make it work. If they don't, then that is their decision. Every country has a right to live how they want to live. Even if we completely agree with it. It would be like someone coming in and telling us we can no longer live the way we want, taking away our freedoms and trying to mold us into what they want us to be. Same difference. I hope and pray for those troops everyday. I have many people I know over in Iraq and they are doing what they have to do as part of their job description. They have to believe that they are fighting for a good cause. Hopefully things will change when we get a new president in office.

Yea completely sidelined topic with the cropping of other issues ..the war issue has kind of gone completley sidelined and sidetracked by the media ..yea really good point made .think about the families who have their family members indulged in war for no cause who are unecessarily apart from their beloved ones that too at the risk of life even after the completion for ruthless and no-win situation cause..really ludicrous and insane for the people of iraq..nothing ha changed its just that one dictator has finished his atrocities while the other one has started ..life continues to be same for them same mundane military life..i guess they are used to it now...

I agree, but unfortunately, where I live if I say anything against the war I am autommatically called unpatriotic and a communist. Too many people are dying over there for nothing.

I honestly believe that it is the soldiers sole responsibilty to understand the workings of government BEFORE they enter the military, because once they do, they are not defending this country, and they certainly aren't freeing the people of Iraq, they are supporting a political agenda and corporate power which is being perpetuated by our country through the military industrial complex. If people in America were not so stupid then maybe this country would actually be a great nation.
