I love listening to music. All kinds. I think everybody fantasizes about being a singer or just being famous but the reality is I just enjoy the true pleasure I get from listening or singing along. If your dream is to be a singer then you are off to a good start. Serious artist write, sing and perform their own music. It's good to have more than one goal and school will definitely help enhance your possibilities to fufill your dreams. Remember what you want now may be different from what you want later so it's good to have a variety of talents and work experiences.

Music, for me, ranks just above breathing on my list of priorities. No, not kidding, lol. I was raised by a musician, so the love of music really was instilled in me from the beginning. My father used to play his guitar and sing to get me to sleep every night. I was raised in an atmosphere where music was given high priority and examined from every angle. I took vocal lessons privately each week from the time I was 3 until I was 16 when I left home. I peformed publicly as a soloist in festivals of the arts from the time I was about 6. When I was 16, I started singing backup for my father, mostly harmony but often in duets as well. I was raised to appreciate music, even if it isn't a kind I relate to. To respect the musician, even if I don't care personally for their genre or personal style. And the result is a deep love of all music. I listen to everything from country to folk, dance and rave, rock and pop, top 40, rap and hiphop .... pretty much everything short of polka, which noone can really blame me for, lol. I play keyboard, not professionally by any means but with passable talent. And I'm learning acoustic guitar now with my son. It's one instrument I've always wanted to play, and now have the time to devote to learning. I still love to sing and do privately on a regular basis. Music is almost always playing at my house, with me singing along in the background. I won't sing publicly anymore, but to my kids or just in general around the house, I couldn't stop myself if I tried .. it just starts when the music does. :)
