Employment and quality of life

I recently read an article saying that employees are increasingly giving up money and promotions for quality of life with their loved ones. Yes, it does seem to be a nice thing to do. However do you think it will affect the overall outcome of the nation if everyone shuns promotions and takes lives a bit easier or do you think it will actually make office a pleasent place to work. I believe work life balance is vital as you need to enjoy what you have earnt. There is no point in running behind things and not enjoying the sweet sucesses after all life is short. I feel it will make office a better place as it really sets priorities and i also believe not everyone will be in the same state of mind. So, productivity will not be affected. But i might be wrong.. Let me know what you think
