Research indicates that chocolate may be effective at preventing persistent coughing. The ingredient theobromine was found to be almost more effective than codeine, the lead cough medicine. The chocolate also appears to soothe and moisten the thoat

wow, i have been ill the last week with a bad cough...i mostly took raw ginger...everything else didn't make me stop coughing :( but i will pass on this info about the chocolate, to my boyfriend. he is a chocoholic, so it will give him one more excuse to say chocolate is "good for health" lolol

if this is so, then how come my ashmatic little girl goes into a bout of coughing when she has eaten a chocolate? i lways can tell when she has snuck a chocolate again because she never fails to go into coughing fits after.
