I'm guessing that since this is a school party, the food should be small and compact - tastes as opposed to a meal. Well... I would say Cocktail weinies would be good, especially slow cooked in bbq sauce. Maybe grilled cheese sandwiches, then cut quartered. Mini hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Stuff that miniturizes "all american."

I'm not American - I'm Australian of Italian parentage. On TV Americans seem to always be eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The *jelly* is what we call jam in Australia - marmellata in Italian. Bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches. Hot dogs (frankfurters) and little mini-hot dogs (wieners). Chocolate chip cookies. Hamburgers. Dill pickles Nachos

One suggustions would be to make hot dogs. It is really simple to make and nothing is more american than a nice footlong in a bun. If you wanted to make some type of desert then the best choice would be apple pie. Good luck.

I am not sure if you have that frozen pastry dough there but you could take that cut it in squares about 5 x5 in. and fill with apple pie filling or apples simmered till soft with a touch of cinnamon & nutmeg. Spoon about a tablespoon or so onto the dough and fold over and pinch sides closed. Then bake at 350 degrees until golden brown. Apples make a very American dish. :)
