Musical genius? I totally agree with you. The contemporary RnB scene has lost much of it's roots and has become bombarded with many commercial, talentless noise-makers that focus too much on a "phat beat". However, John Legend sports a soulful voice, deep lyrics/themes and beautiful piano accompaniments that would surely make his Rnb precursors proud. I love this guys music. My personal favs are "Lets Get Lifted", "She don't have to know" and "Used to Love You", but I think most of his stuff is really good.
