How many sets do you do per muscle group?

I am a trainer and I usually have my clients perform 9 sets per muscle group. I spread it out over 3 different movements . I keep my clients in the 10 rep range, as well. This usually keeps our sessions right around one-half hour. Thoughts?

Hello, I have been lifting for about 30 years. Sounds like you have a great rutine worked out for your clients. Your clients must be those with a disire for maximum results, ripped and possilbly big. I used similar stratagy for years. A few years ago I got Cronic Fatique Syndrome, and have redisigned my workout to three to four sets in the 10 - 15 rep range. Sticking with one to two movements that I can alternate. Three movements for legs, extensions, curls and press. Doing the exersize correctly is very important, slow and hold at peak contraction. Focus and consentration. Got to watch what we eat and have a good cardio rutine too. Happy training !!!

I do a "Split Training" program (1-4 muscle groups one session, other groups next session)

Thanks. I am always looking for new ideas when it comes to training. I have been doing this quite a long time but you can always learn. Good luck with your fitness goals in 2007.

I do this for around half a year or so, and I train each muscle group twice a week, with 3 to 4 different movements, 4 sets of 12 each.
