Do you reply just to say "thank you" to people who replied to your topic?

Just curious, cuz I notice a lot of people say that they do this. I personally do not. It's very time consuming, and I'm not sure most mylotters want this - personally, I like it when a topic isn't loaded with "thank you comments" because I can skip from response to response very quickly. I also don't want to load down Mylot's server space. I posted about this in my profile, but a lot of people probably haven't read my profile, so if I or other Mylotters don't post a "thank you comment", and you're used to it as a courtesy, don't take it personally. I do make sure to go to my topics and give a + to everyone who posted a good thoughtful reply - I just don't post "thank you comments."

It doesn't, but in this case it does. It does cost you your time, and like hassanchop said, it costs mylot their server space. ;)

I agree that it's VERY time consuming. I used to do it in the beginning but once I started posting discussions with more than 25 responses I couldn't keep up with posting "Thank you." Plus, I'm not sure if the person who responded to my discussion will even see my thank you to them so why waste the time doing that? I'd rather put that time into posting and responding to other discussions where I'm actually saying something that others care to read about and gain something from more. I don't really see the need for saying "thank you." It may be nice, but I think most myLotters don't care whether or not you thank them for responding or not.

How very true! It's nice in an ideal world to be able to thank everyone who has taken the time to respond, but can you imagine how long it would take and as you rightly said you wouldn't be able to catch up, because everytime you respond your discussion then goes to the front of the queue so that more people will respond and there's more responses to thank... Most people drop into a discussion leave a response then move on, in and out and that's it, gone and definitely forgotten!

I use to say thank you to every post when I first started on mylot. but all you half to do if rate the person. it saves time. if people that responded to my post wrote a long reply and took their time and gave a quailty response i will respond back.

myLot discourages this type of replying as it is stated in the rules. You will not get paid for saying only thank you for replying in your comments. You have to do more and contribute more than that to earn money. If you do say thank you, you should include other comments as well.

true. if thank you is necessary, you should back it up with your reasons about why you are thanking the person. it's better that way. atleast, we keep the discussions growing.

Why not Thank a person and also rate them? I like to thank people plus I rate them and also rate other discussion's. I know it's time consumming but it is also time consumming to post a reply on your discussion, and for that I thank people.

I don't post just to say "thank you" because myLot's guidelines specifically say don't "thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings." From that, I interpret them to mean that they don't want us adding substantial numbers of "non-content" posts. I do say thank you, though, if someone's response leads me to have more to post about on a given topic... I've even thanked someone in another person's discussion because I enjoyed or appreciated what they had to say. :D

I was just about to point this out. It is in their guidelines. But some people insist on posting 'Thank you for your response' after every reply. Maybe they're being polite, or maybe they want to put their topic at the forefront of the 'recent discussions' list.

I don't bother with thank yous. i reply if I have something to say. Other than that, I just rate the responses. I don't have time to reply to everyone, my discussions get way too many responses. And I don't get offended if people don't thank me for replying. I'd rather not a cookie cutter response geared to keep their discussion at the top of the page.

Same here. This topic is a perfect example. It's getting replies faster than I'd be able to keep up with. I can still easily give a + to everyone, but replying a thank you would be tough.

when that answered my discussions only with seldom commented without having the reply then i will only say " Thank you ", because according to me he only want to increased rating in username him by replying my discussions with only words " thank you "

well it depends.mostly i get very few replies to the discussions i started and i dont say thak you for your response.but i do add a comment which is appropriate with the reply someone posted because it keeps the discussion going on and sometimes i feel like commenting on some replies just to let me opinion known.

When I signed up for mylot in the guidelines it states we shouldn't reply with a thank you only. Only add a comment to the dicussion if we feel like it's an additional benefit. I know that telling people thank you is good manners but it would be extremely time consuming and repetitive to see millions and millions of just thanks you's on all the discussions.

i too am having the same thing. I too don't reply even thanks to the people who respond to my discussions. It seems to be very time consuming and a lazy work to do.

First of all i think you should thanks other people because they have responded your discussion. Because without them your discussion is nothing than a spam. But after say thanks to them, I always give a comment about what are their respond. I think it will make your discussion have a good quality, because i think discussion not just respond and leave it, maybe they will be back and respond again in your discussion.

I rate the responses to my discussions, write a comment to a few, and choose the best response.

I do acknowledge to some responses i get, but not all. Doing that regularly makes my discussion too lengthy and time taking too. if i like someones response, then i give him a "plus". That is my way to be in touch with my responders :)

I don't make thank you replies. If I think someone has made a good response, or even if it's not great, but deserves more than a thank you, I will give a response that includes details or perhaps adds a bit more about the topic being discussed, answering any questions the respondent might have posed.

It is one's own choice wether he/she wants to reply or not.If a person really feels that someone has left a suitable response to his/her topic then there is nothing wrong in returning the favour. Those who feel otherwise may go by their own wish.It is a personal choice.
