Is mattel going nuts? There is a barbie for everything. And the prices are skyrocketing. Do you think that the whole doll industry is getting out of hand and influencing young girls to be "barbie perfect"?

No, I don't think Barbie is influencing young girls. Look at the world around you. TV, magazines, and music says girls have to be thin to be beautiful. Every time Nicole Ritchie and Mary Kate Olson step out into the public eye they are telling young girls that they must be skinny. If we are going to blame someone for this influence it should be the media. Leave Barbie out of it. She just stands there doing her thing.

For years she has been the "ideal" woman. Look at how many have had plastic surgery to look like her. It's scary what they will do to try and mimic the barbie body. It's been influencing them since I was a kid so why should it change now? And with the newer dolls coming out they are just as bad with unattainable body proportions. Will they ever change it? I doubt it. It makes them money, why should they.
