Can a guy and girl just be really good friends?

I remember readind this somewhere ( i think it was Reader's dogest) that, "a guy and girl can be just good friends only if they find each other slightly repulsive". What do you say?

man and woman cannot be BEST friend , cause s.** will get along the way.... man and woman can be Normal friend only...

That is probably true, at least from the guy's perspective.
