We tamilians follow our own god(familial)which comes thru generations. We required to pay a visit atleast once in a year.Whatever function takes place in our family,we should first pay a gratitude to our god by visiting them. This has not happened to my family for a long time since we were in hyderabad on deputation. My elder son's marriage been fixed last sep'06.So in august'06 we all planned to visit vaidheeswaran koil which is in kumbakonam (tamilnadu). We reached chennai central on time and further we proceeded to egmore to catch the cholan express. Everything went well as per our plan.. After taken a nice stay at hotel in kumbakonam we proceeded to the temple thru a cab. After buying all those required for a pooja we entered the temple. We were welcomed with stinking smell!!!We jus wondered what could it be but we soon came to know the reason...All that was bcoz of the dead fishes on the pond inside the temple!! I cant beleive my eyes! All those poor dead creatures were jus floating and no one is bothered to make it clean! We saw so many ppl bathing thr and shampooing themselves.I dont know how could they do it in temple pond? The reason behind this is jus due to the pollution they are doing! No authority was there to look after this plight. Why do they behave like this in a public property? What right they have to got to do this to those harmless creatures?Fishes are meant to make the pond clean. Lots of foriegners also visit our temples thus we also earn thru them!Is it not the duty of the govt to take appropirate measures to take care of our ageold temples and monuments? Ofcourse we,the public too have responsibility! We made a complaint to the concerned officer and ppl thr at office room.Hope it might have been cleared by this time i write this...
