HALLYU-WOOD has hit a lot of people these days. Most Asian dramas especially Korean and Japanese dramas are really very popular in my country. I used to watch such shows a lot when I had more free time but I don't have time to watch any of them now although I am still a bit hooked to it. I have a lot of favorites so don't ask me what they are, okay? I like watching such shows because I get to learn more about other people's cultures and behaviors. Besides, it's fun to watch something that you are very familiar of. It relieves stress for me too. What about you? Do you like watching such TV programs too? Tell me about it. ^^

well, when i first read the discussion topic, I thought that there would be tons of responses and comments, but I was shocked when i saw only two or three responses. Anyway, Yes I do love korean dramas, and as my friend mentioned it is close to real life. And those dramas are the only sources that make me feel relaxed and full of love and not hatred. I went to S. Korea during summer 2006, and I loved it. Hope I will be able to go there again. I love S. Korea's culture language and everything. And, Yes I am learning the language right now. i know how to read and write but steal cannot talk. But, thanks to the Korean dramas at the moment I am improving my speaking skills.:)

Yes, I do like watching asian dramas. I started with Hotelier, a korean series which I loved. The series I most enjoyed was Dae jang Geum or Jewel in the Palace. Followed by the Japanese series Hana Yori Dango (where Meteor Garden is based on). I also enjoyed Kim Sam Soon. I didn't like Goong (Princess Hours) much. And am currently watching Densha Otoko (Japanese series) and laughing a lot. Hollywood and Western series can be tiresome and repetitive. I find that watching asian series is good in the sense that I can see a different worldview and a new perspective from these.

Yes! I like watching asian dramas specially korean dramas. It is because, even though I am not well travelled, I think I have been to korea because of that. I am aware of their cultures and other things about them. It is fun to watch them specially if the dubber miss pronounced the names.hehe!

Yeah same here. Haha! You are right about the mispronounced part. I think some dubbers do it on purpose because they know that we are not Koreans so it's excusable for them to do it besides we're having a hard time pronuncing the names in the first place. It's easy to get away with it especially with some people who have no idea what such names really sound like. Thanks for the response! ^^

ya,korean dramas are popular these days especially in youth and juvenile.as you said,i also think the reason why korean dramas can be so popular is that they are near real life.Holly wood shocked us by illusion and high-tech.but asian dramas moved us by love and relationship.i cant forsee which will domain in the future.after all we need fantastic imagination as well.
