is it in bad taste when you ask for vinegar or soy sauce with your steak?

Thats fair enough, its your choice really how you want your food to taste like, nothing wrong with it. I also love vinegars, here in the uk, since we dont have the mango that we have over there, we use apple as substitute for it and dip it with vinegar and soy suace as well.yummy!

apple? in vinegar and soy? haven't tried that. might try it, though, coz it sounds interesting. incidentally, we're having green mango and bagoong for appetizer for lunch. want some? he, he.

well, its kinda awkward to do that in fine dining restaurants but its okay if its in ordinary restaurants but not in fine dining

yeah, thought o, too. that's why when we go out to formal restos, i eat a little at home before we leave coz i'm sure not going to be full without the sauce.

i love vinegar when i have steak, and that's when i do, not very often tho! :(

thank goodness there are a lot of people out there who act and do as i do. sometimes, i'm ashame of asking the waiter for vinegar. i'm afraid i'd hurt the chef's feelings.

i really agree with you having other condiments with my steak or even with other type of viand makes my meal complete.
Filipino as my culture is also someone who really loves "SAWSAWAN "in what we call that condiments which we usually mix the soy sauce & vinegar or sometimes with chili sauce as a dip for any steak , grilled meat or seafoods , even fried foods or bbq.
