Meal Planning or Sales

Recently I've actually been making a list of all the meals we are going to have for a week and then shopping from that. Before we just went, saw what was on sale, and bought from that. I've heard that meal planning saves money. I can't really tell a difference. How do you decide what groceries to purchase?

I just buy whatever I feel like we need. And if stuff is on sale then I'll go ahead and buy it. I don't make a meal plan ahead of time cause I probably wouldn't stick to it.

I don't either. I buy what I want. Meal planning to me is a bit pointless because I may not want what I had said I was going to eat on that day.

Try http://www.thegrocerygame.com because it will save you a lot of money. I saw this woman profiled on the Food Network and again on the Today show. She bought $247 worth of groceries and left the store only having to pay $74! I immediately went to my computer and signed up and I save an average of $60 every time I go to the store. My record is $74.30 in savings in one trip! To join the grocery game it's $1 for the first four weeks and then it's only $5/mo. after that. Pays for itself right away!
