i used to have a hamster. it was my best friend. i had to give it away because the doctor said it is causing allergic asthma. i followed the doctor's prescription, but i don't think the hamster was causing my illness.

i don;t know if they could cause an illness i had 7 ones and i haven't anythink.. they are really sweet..

I think it could be true.. because ...the doctor says.. than is true..:) If you will not follow the doctor's advice.. and then you will get sick.. what you will do?

have you got asthma as long as you live with your hamster? if no, please dont believe what the doctor said

Hamsters are rather small. In my opinion, 1 hamster probably wouldn't cause asthma. As long as you keep the environment clean and not place the cage in your bedroom, shouldn't cause any problems. I am having sinus attacks since young. But my hamsters did not worsen it in any way.
