I'm not sure just WHAT this is.....

My boyfriends grandmother recently passed and while cleaning out her shed we found box after box of hammered aluminum. One of the items in one of the boxes is well... I'm not sure. It looks like a small box with a rosette on the top with a handle on it. The top is attached to it, but opens on a hinge. Anyone have any suggestions on what it is and it's value? On the bottom it says "Trade Continental Mark # 801" with a little soldier on it. Other than being a little dirty from being in a box in the garage, it's really in great shape. If you have any suggestions, please let me know soon, otherwise my mother-in-law will snatch it up and put it in her yard sale and we may never see it again. Thanks, Jennie JennieDaFlRednek@aol.com

Gee, I don't have any idea of what value it might be. Do you have any antique stores in your town, you might show them and they may be able to answer or give you some direction as to go about getting more information. If you can get it now with out hassle from your mother-in-law, I would so I could have time to investigate and even its not worth anything, it sounds like you might like to keep for your kids or something of the nature Good luck! :)
