Two mothers and their thirteen year old daughters were arrested after (according to police reports) one woman drove her already suspended daughter to school to fight a teenage rival. (How sad is that, that the mother would be encouraging such behavior?)
Ana Rivera, 44, and Maribel Santiago, 34, are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on a charge of simple assault in connection with Monday's fight. Their daughters and two other 13-year-old girls were charged with disorderly conduct and their cases were turned over to the Juvenile Detective Division.

I can't believe a mother would take her child to school to fight with another child. I guess it ain't safe being a teacher nowadays. I can't think of anyone I know of who would or has done anything like that. Thanks for sharing that piece of information.

I hear you about it not being safe to be a teacher nowadays. I would _never_ want to be a teacher, even if it were the most high paying job in the world. And that's sad, because it would benefit me greatly for what I would like to do with my life if I _could_ find a job that would leave my summer months free, lol! But kids today actually scare me, literally, to the point that I would not want to teach. There are just too many reports of things like school shootings, and too much violence in schools, and too many rude kids around for me to want to hold that kind of a job.

It is very sad any Parent encouraging that sort of thing I just don't know anymore what some Parents are thinking of I really don't and that is why we have so many Violent youths about now as the Parents do not set a good example or they just do not care
It is really sad I am so glad I have 2 good Kids

Well I guess this proves the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! We often say "Where do these kids get their morals from?"... this would show where I guess, for sure!

What a sad thing to read. Especially that the mothers were involved and even took her daughter to fight. Are you sure it's not gang-related? I'm not trying to be streotypical or anything like that, but it just makes no sense for the mothers to do such a thing without a reason. And no reason could justify their actions. Maybe the mothers had a problem with one another, and had their children do their dirty work for them. All I know is, this is such a sad thing to read, because it only makes you wonder what the world is coming to. Parents should be enforcing positive behavior, but instead they are teaching their children to fight one another.

Grrr...and then we wonder why teenagers today behave the way they do! This is crazy to be encouraging such behaviour. I just can't imagine a parent condoning this.

This actually sounds like something that happened at the school I worked at. The mother of a girl who was suspended started yelling at the girl her daughter was in a fight with. She was calling the teenager some pretty bad names and when the girls mother stepped in it was close to a being a fight between the parents. Great role models.
