Help me upload PHP scripts. Please

I tried 2 free hosting sites specifically Byethost.com and ZendURL.com Ater I uploaded my PHP scripts via FTP and go to my website to install the PHP scripts, I see "unwritable" in many of my uploaded files. Plese help. What should I do in order to be able to successfully install the script?
