Should Adults Intervene Over Children's Arguments???

In the UK, a 15 year old boy was set upon by 8 adults wielding hammers because of a personal dispute between the victim and a fellow pupil at the school they both attended.
Has adult intervention become out of control. We all had disputes with our school mates at one time or another, but never had the threat of an adult attacking us and putting us in hospital.
In my children's primary school I witnessed 2 mother's fighting because of an incident that involved their children.
What message are we sending to our children. It makes me realise why so many young children are so aggressive themselves, when their parents or adults around them are in no way good role models!!What is going on today???What do you feel. Does this happen where you live???

Last school year a 5th grade girl called my 1st grade daughter a B!tch. Several students heard this. So I along with the several student's went the principal and I made a complaint against this student and demanded she be dealt with. The next day that girl along with her mother was called in. Her mother accused my child of being a "little liar". I know because, unknowing to this mother, I was standing right there in the office! At that point, many friends "advised" me to go and defend my child. I refused. I choose to let the principal deal with it, and she did. Now I have to admit, it was hard, SOOOO hard to not go in there and knock this woman out. But luckily I kept my sense about me and didn't.
When it comes to our own children emotions can and will run high. It's hard to do the right thing by either allowing those in charge to handle it or to let our children handle it.
However that is no excuse for fighting parents or in this case a lynch mob. If what ever this kid did, that was so bad, it called for a brutal beating, then why wasn't the police called on this child to begin with?
Adults have got to stop an think before reacting when it comes to children. I hope the adult involved, receive a proper punishment for their actions. That is just unbelievable.

Thanks for your thoughts. it is hard as a parent to think before we act when it involves our children, but this sort of violence can never be accepted.
Thanks for all your responses to my discussions. Its nice when a friend actually takes an interest in the discussions I post.
Cheers!!!

Just goes to show you where the world is heading. If parents can't show good examples then how are they suppose to expect their children to be any better.
You need to let the children handle their own issues; unless of course it goes way beyond the norm.
Kids used to throw rocks at me after school, but did I run to my mom and tell her to handle it? NO...I dealt with it on my own.

Violence seems to be the way to sort out arguments today.
I hope these so called men will be made an example of. But, being the British system their sentence will mean nothing!! The laws in our country tend to favour the criminals!
