When you debate, do you honestly consider your opponent's opinion?

I was thinking about this the other day. Whenever I have an argument/debate with someone, I'm honestly very very stubborn in the way I debate. I'll never let the other person "win" the debate, but oftentimes I will actually agree with them and act accordingly from that point forward. But I still can't find it in myself to claim defeat during a debate. Why is that?
