Which camera is better?

I have an older 35mm SLR. Now I want to move to an introductory or hobby level DSLR. There are a few brands: Pentax, Nikon and Cannon.
I am sure there are some knowledgeable participants who did research on cameras.I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
