Does anyone know much about snowboarding? My son has gone snowboarding with a church group for the weekend and I am just a little worried. He has never been before and he does not know anything about it. I don't even think he took enough of the right clothing. He had no thermals or gloves or sun glasses. I know its just the mother in me and he will be fine. But if I could get some encouragment or information about the subject I might feel better. He is at a resort in West Verginia. We are in North Carolina and altho it does get pretty cold here, it does not stay cold and we never get snow. Anybody familiar with snowboarding?

If he has no thermals or gloves or eye protection he will be harmed. If not short term than long term. You NEED to be protected from the harsh elements on the mountain. Yes, it will cost money to get all the stuff he needs. Essentials are thermals, water-resistant (even better is waterproof) pants and jacket, neck gator, waterproof mittens (or gloves), goggles, knit or fleece hat, and sunblock. If you dont have a snowboard shop near you can can get it all online. See http://www.frostyrider.com/shops/online_shops.htm for various online snowboard shops.
