Me and my partner have discused being a foster carer. After much thought about pro's and cons and if we can manage, we decided that we would like to do it. We have had the interview and it has come back that we are ok to foster by the interviewer and the manager. The only thing is it now has to go throught the co-ordinator as we are a young couple. We are still waiting on that response. Once we get the go ahead we have been told that it will take about a year, after all the training, to get the first child. This will start of as a restbite until we become experienced and confident. I would really like to help children in bad situations and have the experience of working with troubled kids through my work. I would like some first hand advice from anyone who fosters. What have you found good or bad about it? What are your experiences? etc Please let me know so i can get as much information as possible before taking on any kids.

I grew up from age 5 in foster homes and got moved around a lot. It was not a good experience and I have many issues that I have not been able to deal with in life. I get alone fine and have a family of my own but I hardly ever trust people. If you can take a child and love that child, giving them something they are not getting and you can give them a good life and you are willing to teach them love and right and wrong. I give you my blessing.
