I had to go off my 300mg a day Effexor a few months ago because my blood pressure had gone up to 150 over 105. It had worked very well for me so I reluctant to go off. I had high hopes for Cymbalta because I know its chemicaly similar to Effexor, but it's been several months and it just isn't working for me. Is there anything else I should ask my doctor about?

I have been on 300 mg also for awhile now also. I really like how the medicine works. My blood pressure has been being monitored also. I really don't want to come off of it and go on something else since this has worked so well for me in the past five years.

Eat loads of starfruit. Very effective. It will immediately bring down your pressure. Serious. You should try it now and then measure your blood pressure.

I have fibromyagia and have suffered for years with pain in and around my joints. Then I found Mannatech's Ambrotose and I don't have any pain as long as I stay on the product. It isn't a cure but it sure helps. You can go to the Mannatech.com site or get it through your health food store. I don't know if it will help you but it sure helped me. It does take about a month before you will see good results so don't expect to take 1 pill or a few measures of powder and be instantly cured. It takes time but it is worth it....at least for me.

I have tried almost all of the anti-depressants out there. They all work differently for different people. The ones that I have tried that I liked were Zoloft and Prozac. I currently take Prozac, there is even a version of Prozac that you only take once a week. I really loved that kind because it was easy to remember and I only had to take it 4-5 times a month. I can't afford it now that I don't have insurance, so I take the regular, generic Prozac. Another type of anti-depressant I have heard works pretty well is Paxil. Good luck, I hope you find one that works for you.

I hope you are still checking your discussions since this was started quite a while ago. You might ask your doctor about Lexapro. I don't know if it's chemically similar or not, but it is a very good anti-depressant and doesn't cause as many side effects. Also Wellbutrin has a low number of side effects. Hope this helps.

There are several ways to help control high blood pressure. 1. Try this recipe using raw grated garlic: 4 to 5 garlic cloves grated. pinch of salt 1 teaspoon red pepper 1 to 2 limes squeezed. Mix and eat with food. Prepare to smell garlicky but it will help with high blood pressure. Walk. Eat very little salt as it makes your body retain water. Meditate.
