I am not sure which is longer...a carride from Hampton, VA to St Louis, MO or from Pawtucket, RI to Hampton, VA or from San Francisco, CA to St Louis, MO, but I can tell you which one felt to be the longest! The last one I traveled with a couple as their nanny for their 2 and 3 yr olds. It was a long trip because they had no control over them.

yes, i went from Detroit to Atlanta..that seemed like forever as I hate to do all the driving but once I got passed Atlanta Ga. i stopped for the night and next day continued to Orando, Floriday 1200 miles. Return trip I had my wife and her cousin from Germany and her husband and two kids 12 and 9..but we had a aerostar van..but the German guy drove in the passing lane all the way form St. Augustine, Florida to Detroit and only stopped for fuel...I was in the front seat and listened to books on tape on my walk man and slep most of the way..lol..but would play the tape again where i left off..and the German guy was amazed I could sleep so much! EASY when someone else was driving.... All I told Willi was he would have to pay the speeding fine if we got caught and take the ticket but he was used to driving on the autobahn and it was a very fast ride home..to this day I don't see how we did not get pulled over for speeding..but he was wired and would not think of letting me drive..I admire the German who drive on the autobahn..they are really good...and the only ticket you get if you are driving too slow in the passing lane...pull over if you are apprached from behind..or get a ticket..but it was great fun

I had recently took family to coastal region which is 400 kms from Bangalore. From plainland to go to coastal region, we had to tread the hilly region (it is known as ghat section) where there are hundreds of hair-pin bends along side the natural beauty of hills and valleys, wild flowers, full of greenery. We stayed only for 2 days and I started driving the car at 6.30 a.m. and only for nature call I got down otherwise till 8 p.m. I was driving and driving. Sincere I had the company of my wife and son, we went on signing, talking, listening to music, eating, the time passed without our knowledge. The distance covered is around 520 kms of rugged road, thorny and stony roads, not fit for motorable (because while coming back I chose another route). I was quite tired.

A 24 hour trip to Forida ended up taking us 36 hours because of vehicle trouble. We had to drive at 50 mph the entire trip from Iowa to Florida... crazy

Only 7-8 hours. I don't think I could stand 24 hours of being in a car! I hope you rotated drivers though.

Longest car ride i ever took was December 1998, we left Louisiana for Ohio to spend Christmas with my kids. We knew bad weather was going to hit Birmingham by mid morning, now mid morning to me means 9-10 oclock, so we left the night before to make sure we got through there before it hit. WRONG, we arrived in Birmingham at 5:30am, and the ice had already started to come down. They shut down the roads and we sit on the side of the road for 5 hours, when they finally let us go on, the weather had come across the entire path we was traveling, we had to drive 15 to 20 mph all the way to Cincinnati before things cleared up. It took us over30 hours to make a 14-16 hour trip. Ever drive 500 miles at 20 miles per hour, not fun. We seen over 50 wrecks in just a few hours, god had to be watching out for us.

that reminds me of an ice storm we had to travel through missouri last year to get to arkansas, and the roads were so slippery with ice, that the semis that had empty trailers could not make it up the hills on the interstate,.. oh that was a horrible nite. it took an extra 12 hours just to get there.
