I was raised from the south and every Sunday after church the whole family would get together and have Sunday dinner at a relative house. Now that I've moved to Va. away from majority of my family, I find myself still having sunday dinner, but miss being around my family to share it with. Do your family have Sunday Dinners?

I was raised in the South as well. We didn't do a normal Sunday dinner until after my Grandmother passed away about four years ago. When Katrina hit, that put a stop to Sunday dinner. Even though almost the entire family is back, no one has picked up the tradition again. I think it is because we all have completely different schedule and lives now, see each other on a more regluar basis, and talk more frequently. Honestly, I can't say I miss Sunday dinner all that much. Sunday dinner took up a lot of my time on Sundays and would often turn into an all day affair.

I respect your thoughts, to me Sunday dinner is my time to spend with my family. I see Sundays as my relax day anyways. I also see Sunday dinners bringing our family closer.

I probably would feel the same way if I didn't see my family so often. Sunday is definately a day to relax, being around my family isn't relaxing though! After spending a day with them, I usually feel like I need another day off.

We would have dinner at my parents house every Sunday. My sister and her family and me and family. Sometimes our aunt and her family would show up too. Now my parents moved to AZ and sister moved a half hour away it all stopped.I am trying to start it back up again though. Sister is moving closeer and my aunt and her family would gladly come. I think having family for dinner is great thing to do.
