Tonight I went to see a stand up comic. There were 2 men and 1 woman. She was pretty vulgar. Have you ever seen stand up comics and what did you think? Have you ever heard of the Tennessee Tramp?

Yea, we have a great comedy club here in town. they have open mic nights, comics who you have never heard of and also big names like Ellen Degeneres, Tommy Chong and my personal favorite Jeff Dunam. I have seen some pretty raunchy comics there. I don't understand why comics feel they need to be nasty to get laughs. the best comics can do it without the vulgarity. I have never heard of the Tennessee Tramp but I think the name says it all.

You are right about that!!! Every other word started with a P and had 5 letters in it. I think they could tone it down a bit and still be funny. This "lady" (and I use the term loosely) had just come back from Iraq where she entertained the troops. They probably had a ball and it probably was good for them to relax and laugh but here in the states I think we can laugh without feeling cheap.

When I lived in Pensacola Florida they had a stand up comic place. My friends and I would go there for my Birthday. It was a lot of fun, but the comedians pick on you if you sit up close or if they find out it is your Birthday. I no longer go now since I moved. There was a club 23 miles away from I live now but I didn't like the atmosphere so much and the comics were not very good. I have never heard of the Tennessee Tramp.

We used to love going to live comedy shows. But you're right...I wouldn't like going anymore...too much filthy language, too much s*xual innuendo, too much teasing or making fun of the people in the front, too much talking about s*x or gays. Not really my kind of thing anymore. Now, I've seen some good christian comics on tv before...that would be cool. At least you'd know there wouldn't be the bad language and questionable content.
