What is your most valued posession?

If your house was on fire and you could only rescue one item from the blaze what would it be and why? Mine would be a cross stitch picture done by my grandmother, it's called "devotion" and is a portrait of a womans head. It is stitched in different shades of brown so it almost looks 3D, it's absolutely beautiful and I really treasure it. So what would yours be?

I would make sure my cats were safe. I know I have 5 of them, but I can lump them altogether as one item called "cats" for the purposes of this I think!

Haha - I just had this image of 5 cat squashed into a very small place. Thanks for your response.

I just read that comment and burst out laughing...my image was of all five cats squished into a small, clear plastic box...legs and tails sticking out in all directions.

Aside from my personal identification, which is always a good thing to have on you... It's actually a really tough decision. I have two things that are really, really invaluable to me. Actually three, but two of them count as the same thing. My violin and my viola are one of them. I'd probably die if I couldn't express myself musically, and my viola was built by someone very special to me. The second thing is my grapefruit tree. I planted it when I was five, and my parents told me that it wouldn't grow because it came from the grocery store and was refrigerated for too long. But it did grow, and for 15 years it has been my reminder not to let anybody tell me that my dreams are impossible. I suppose if there really were a fire...I'd open my window and drop the tree out and hope it survived, and then grab my instruments and run.

What a lovely response. I love the tale about your grapefruit tree, it must be very special to have something that you grew when you were so young. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

My camera. He's called Fred and he's a Canon 400D digital SLR. Is it sad that i don't have something more personal? The only other thing i would REALLY want is a ring given to me by my boyfriend on our first holiday but it's on my finger every day so i wouldn't have to rescue it.

Wow, your camera's got a name, that's cool. No it's not sad at all that you don't have something more personal. To many people their camera is something very special as they use the pictures they take as a for of self expression. Thanks for your response.

Well i've got to admit my second choice would be my nintendo DS. I'm addicted to Animal Crossing at the moment - it sounds like my boyfriend and your girlfriend have a lot in common - their both 'game system' widows! Happy gaming and thanks for replying!

Well, I would ensure that my spouse is withe me. Other than that, If I have to pick up one material thing probably I would pick up my passport. If I need to pick up some material thing to which I am emotionally attached, I would pick up my personal diary. I guess I am going to pick up many things :-)

Ooh yes, a passport is a good idea, I would never have thought of that...the spouse isn't such a bad idea either - lol! Thanks for your response.

I would have to say my pets....everything else could be replaced.I don't have anything from my family that I could not replace.....but I can see why you would not want to loose that.

Thanks for your response. Your right, pets are irreplaceable. I didn't put my pets at my most valued posessions because I like to think of the as independent creatures rather than posessions.

First I would have to make sure my dog piper got out safely and my moms dog baby. and of course my mom dad and best friend Carol that lives with us. People definitely cannot be replaced. Then I would make sure I grabbed as many family photos as humanly possible. Anything else can be replaced.
