I usually get plastic carry bags from the supermarket when shopping. I then save them and use them to line mu dustbin. It means that the rubbish can be neatly tied up in plastic bags to put in the main wheelie bin when the dustmen arrive to take away the rubbish. I think it's less messy and makes their job easier.
I know it's bad for the environment, but I understand they are working on plastic bags that degrade in the soil

Am not happy with the use of plastic bags. Ours tend to have a hole in them by the time we get them home. Paper is much preferable. However, give me a tote type bag and I will safely get the groceries home and help our environment too.

it depends on what kind of stuff inside. when you buy meat or fish, it is better using plastic bag instead paper bag.
