choosing between engineering and art is really tough specially if we're speaking about option to take in college. if you would pursue a carrer in teaching, either of the two is really good. engineering just like any other pure sciences generally deals with exact subjects like physics, chemistry, calculus, etc but when we speak about art it can be in art history, art study, fine arts, visual arts, etc. it would depend on what field you would want to specialize. in engineering, you can choose from civil (structure, construction, infrustructure engineering, mechanical (machines) engineering, materials engineering, geodetic (earth measurement) engineering, chemical engineering, industrial enginering, etc. i suggest to look in the net to read more about the subject. you can also consider social sciences and philosophy. hehehehe!

Mechanical engineering has nothing to do with machines or anything to do with being a mechanic. Its got more to do with physics and how much force structures can withstand (for an example). In my opinion I would choose engineering over art every time. There are a lot more successful and higher payed jobs. And with so many roads to go down there has to be something that you are interested in, aerospace, aeronautical, automotive, material, electrical, electronics, communications, civil, mechanical, business, maths (there are too many to name). Engineers are very valuable and highly regarded because of their intelligence. To study art, you will be just another art student, just a number.

id say it depends on what u wanna do. If u wanna get a "real" job i would go for engineering. I'd say art degree is for ppl who are just going to school to say they went, or need some sort of post secondary education. So maybe if u wanna be a teacher or some sort of sports player, art might be a better choice. Art is will most likely be a much easier program compared to engineering.

i don't think it's fair to say people who went to art degree education were using it as alibi for going to college. back in our university, the best students were from the college of arts and letters. since they have study society and it's expression according to ages, period and time in history. subjective as it may seems, but art can be studied objectively and scientifically. if ever given the chance to have a second degree, i want to take up art history.
