Is it really necessary to have an education to make it in the world now?

Years ago people could actually make a good living even if they didn't graduate from school or go to college. Do you that is still true in today's world?

yeah, people put more stock in that little piece of paper rather than the ability of the person to learn the job. i've been discounted because prior to my associate's; now trying to get my bachelor's I'm not good enough for something that will pay at least a living wage! it was in who you knew that counted!

You are so right. Some people have that little piece of paper and can't even do the job and then those that can do the job may not have a degree but if they want the job they will have to get it. I see more and more older people going back to school to get that degree now because of this.

To get into Retails, you now need to have done Year 10 before they even look at you. They do an appitude test as well. Years ago you never had to have an education providing you are a dedicated worker. Today the kids now have to study till they gained their year10 or more to get a job. Many employers does not employing people at that requirement. This has almost became the past and soon you need to show your certificate to prove you are educated.

I think it depends on the field one wants to go into. Plumbing, electricity and heavy equipment operating don't require an education as much as they require experience. A trade school would help, but it's not necessary. You can make good money at any of those things. I know I'm going against popular opinion, but I don't think that a college education guarantees anything. I know college graduates who are working in fast food, as receptionts, etc. I guess the bottom line is, it depends! More important than an education is attitude and ambition.

If they don't need a trade school then should they try to work with someone as an apprentice? You are right about attitude and ambition. Along with that is initiative. I have seen people who you would not think would go anywhere but had the initiative to go out there an make life work for them.

I think it depends really....I mean its definately not EASY like it was but its not absolutely impossible either if you have a knack or personal experience etc and of course it depends on what it is you want to get into as far as a career goes ya know...some careers you'd most likely need a diploma and possibly even some college or university like the medical field for example or lawyer but there are plenty of jobs out there that you could get without having those pcs of paper provided you are determined, a quick study and/or have personal experience and of course contacts never hurt anyone either LOL

I think it would depend on what you actually classified as education. Some take education as being a piece of paper when you donned your mortar board and gown after 4 to 5 years of college. Some takes practical training in some organisations as it. There is a third kind of education. It is known as applicable education. Meaning you study the subjects to suit your business skills or what ever you would want to do after that. It normally do not award a certification of any level. Right now I am doing one. The course I took is stress and time management.

Yes I believe so I mean on almost every job application they ask you what level of education you have. Also to get the good money coming in you have to go to university or collage to get a degree and then your set so yes
