When I grow up I want to be?

I remember when I am still 4 or 5, my teacher, parents and other members of the family often ask me. What do you want to be when you grow up? And I would answer, I want to be a doctor so that I can cure people. And after a few years, when somebody asked me again I would say a scientist... Do you experience the same thing back when you were young?

when i was young i remember saying "i want to be construction worker like dad" but looking at other things i also wanted to be an electronic engineer. now, i know a lot about construction from help of my dad and i am studying for electronics in school. i also wished that i could one day become famous with my best friend on our band. we said this at the age of 4, when we learned and started playing.

When I was young, Many people ask me a question like this "What do you want to be when you grow up? I really confuse to answer that kind of question. I don't know what i want to be went i grow up. Many of my friends want to be doctor, scientist, architecture and others, but i really didn't know what i want to. When I was 10, i really wanted to be a doctor. Unless i Have my first computer. From that time, I like to become a programmer which can make computer program. And now, i still study in the university to become a programmer.

I wanted to be an archeologist until I found out in high school you basically had to have a Ph.D. to do anything. Now that I am approaching writing my dissertation for my doctorate I wish I would have understood that it wasn't such a far off reality.

I know when i was growing up i wanted to be a doctor or teacher or scientist. I think when you are growing up you want to do many things as you influenced by many things like you family, friends or teachers or media or your environment. it is good to have some aim in life as it motivates you to work for it and become a successful profesional in whatever field you go. Moreover as we become adults we realise which profession is best suited ofr us depending on our requirements, skills, interests, career growth, incentives and do what works best for you. More imp. than the profession is the satisfaction you get from being successful and happy and the satisfaction which you get from doing it.

LOL, well no one is still asking, but I am still trying to figure it out. Yes I was asked that a thousand times, as if I would really know at the age of 6! I would just say I didn't know, or shrug my shoulders. A freind asked my girls that just not to long ago. I stepped in and answered for them "What ever the so choose to be."

I wanted to be a psychiatrist for many years but it never happened. Life changes things. The funny thing is that now that I'm married and have my son, CJ, who's Autistic, he wants to be several things at once. He wants to be a Judge, Pharmacist and a Doctor. He loves watching, Judge Joe Brown, etc., going to pharmacy and reading all the medicines on shelves. It's great to have dreams and you want to keep them as long as you can.

I considered to be alot of things when I was younger but none of them seem really right until my first plane ride. Then I knew it what my perfect career would be: A pilot!

Yes, I experience the same thing when I was a little kid. I would say doctor, lawyer, or scientist. Most people that grew up ends up doing something else. I guess we say those things because we hear our parents talking about those jobs a lot.

When I was young I told my mother I want to be a nurse. But then when i've met my brother in law who is a computer course graduate I said I am taking Computer Science after I graduate from high school. So I took it because at that time it was really an in demand course. After I graduated for 4 years, I told myself, I must've sticked to my nursing decision, it is most in demand now, lol. But after a year I got married, lol. Never applied what I've studied for 4 years but maybe a part of it.

Well when I was little, I wanted to be a chemist, then, in high school , i took chemistry hmm about 2 times, then i said nope not for me. I am studying violinist right now but I want to run my business. That is my dream.

Might I recommend a French film called 'Un coeur en hiver' (A heart in winter) starring France's golden couple Daniel Auteuil & Emma Beart (Mission Impossible 1), it's about a violinists workshop, and is a tremendous film.

i was asked this question quite often...even lately too!! i used to get very irritated and used to mumble something or the other which was not in the least what i wanted to be. i guess the question put me off gfor good, coz i don't ask such questions from any poor little kid who is still trying to make sense of study and life itself. change or flux is essence of life....an old saying...but is true....when you grow physically..why not mentally....
