Are people basically good?

I tend to think positively about most things, including most people. I believe there is good in us all, though some people you have to dig prettty deep to find it. I thought about this after hearing about a story out of Florida. It seems a thief went into the house of Eva and Steven Greene in New Port Richey, FL and stole about $10,000 worth of stuff. The thieves put a bunch of things into pillowcases, including a velvet box they found over the mantle. The trouble was, the box actually contained the ashes of the Greene's recently deceased four year old son, who died of cancer. The Greene's asked through the media if the people involved would please keep the valuables, but return the urn with the ashes. "Just drop it off somewhere with a note on it and that will be that" According to the report, within hours of that hitting the streets, Greene and a police officer who happened to be there, walked into the front yard and found the urn lying on the grass. The ashes were there in the urn. I don't condone the theft. So is this an example of good coming through or just a bad person trying to keep their conscience clear??

Yes I believe that people are basically good, this reminds me of a story i read about 2 years ago, i can't remember when or where it exactly happened but it was somewhere in north Africa where a thief went into an apartment and found it full of gas, he opened the windows but found that the whole family was dying so he woke the neighbors and helped taking them to the hospital although he knew he will be arrested for breaking in..

like animals , insects/birds , all human beings are good in nature and by birth . it is their desire which spoils them .
