Have you ever seen beach glass jewelry?

Locally, living on a lake, we have a huge craze that everyone seems to have gotten into. You find various chunks of glass that has been basically smoothed by the water and sand and then create jewelry with it. Very beautiful. Have you ever seen it? Purchased any? Made your own?

I have seen this type of jewelry at craft shows, but personally do not own any. I love to collect beach glass. Hubby does not understand why I want to save it.

There is something soothing about knowing that a piece of glass, something that normally is so sharp and can be harmful is somehow transformed into soft and beautiful by the water. I love it myself and have used it often as jewelry, sun catchers and simple bowls to decorate. It's beautiful for sure.

The one that you have pictured is very pretty. My inlaws live near Erie, so we do occasionally go to the beaches there, but I've never seen glass on those beaches. It would be neat to make your own jewelry from something you found. Have you done it?
We went to a NJ beach last summer and my girls found seashells that had holes in the top where they could put a string through. They both made necklaces from them and wear them every once in a while.

Yes, I had a very plain white piece that I knew would go with anything. I had found it while on vacation at our cabin on the lake. I found a man who would drill it and put a hook in so I could use it as a pendant. It's simple and plain but very nice. I also have created sun catchers for the window with various pieces wired together. Beautiful and always unique.

I have not seen beach glass jewelry before but it sounds very nice and beautiful. I love jewelry. Do you have any pictures of beach glass jewelry or any links to a site that has them? I do not live near an ocean or a lake so it would be hard for me to do something like that.

The discussion has a pic of a necklace. http://www.relishinc.com/jewelry.htm is the local store here in Erie.

Do a search online and you will find so many ideas. Most will mix both sea glass and beads or metals to make a creation. Some search for similar colors or various shades, creating one color pieces or multi-shades of one color pieces.
The one I show is not my own creation. I believe it's actually one from a local company called RELISH, located here in Erie, PA. They were the first to bring beach glass to the area.

It really is and the glass you find on the beach is so smooth and not sharp at all. They even sell "beach glass" in bags now online, although I've been told much of it you purchase online is not authentic beach glass but glass that they have taken, broken themselves and then tumbled in a rock tumbler to smooth it out so you have to be careful.
You can come up with so many creative ideas with this too.
