I have been working out for around a year now. I have noticed that my body lacks that sculpted and hard look that a body builder should have! i consulted my trainer and he said that i should lose fats for the muscles to become the way i desire! now here's the question how do i lose fats fast? should i eat everything and start doing some serious aerobics and cardio? should i go on a fat free diet? my most troublesome area is the abs! is spot reduction a myth or reality? I would really appreicate detailed replies and any tips that you guys have! Thanks

My friend (a chemist) said, reduce the carbohydrate intake while keeping the protein/ fat intake as normal. sorry for not giving scientific evidence for this. Then how about taking stairs instead of lift/ escalator at your apartement/ office/ when you're at shopping ctr, take walk/ bicycle to your destination (school? office?) instead of driving/ taking public transport, sit up 40-70 times a day?

Hard look/sculpted/ripped to the bone/chiseled etc whatever u call it but your trainer is absolutely right in order to see the muscles you will have to burn off fat & spot reduction is never possible so its a myth! Fatfree Diet (biggest mistake!). Your main-stay to lose fat fast is 1)Weight training with high intensity (3-4 times/week) 2)Proper Diet 3) Adequate rest for recovery. There are various things to be considered for calculating the dietetic needs like Age,Gender,Body composition(Ratio of Lean Body Mass to Body Fat),Current Exercise intensity,Body type (Ectomorph, Endomorph, Mesomorph)etc. so that required amount of CHO(Carbohydrates), Protein, Fat & Micronutrients (Vitamins, Minerals etc.) can be calculated. Also your pre & post workout meal is very important! * CHO used must be complex carbs AKA slow carbs (i.e. some thing like brown bread, oats( oatmeal, oatbran),wheatbran, wheat flakes, chhapati made from wheat etc.) consume fruits like Apple, Pear, Guava, Peach, Plum, Orange, Papaya) avoid in form of juice! * Proteins from non-veg ( avoid red meat ) * Dont treat all fats the same. The term fat may not sound good to your ears but some fats like unsaturated fats mostly MUFA ( monounsaturated fats) which are liquid at room temperature and Fish oil (omega 3 Fatty acids) actually help you burn fats (the LDL) Low Density Lipo Proteins and Cholesterol. (*) Have 5-6 meals throught the day with CHO,Protein,Fats equally divided. ALL THE BEST!! P.S.: I am a certified Personal Trainer (Progressive Fitness U.S.A./B.F.Y. Sports & Fitness India) working at Gold's Gym Santacruz (India). I have also completed my Sports Supplementation and Nutrition Course.

Well,to lose fats fast and efficiently, you must do a consistent and continueous exercise and control your food. Take only fruits and veggies, avoid foods like chicken or meet that can give you more fat. The most important thing is, DETERMINATION!

Well the best thing to do would be too avoid food that has excess oil in it and avoid eating some dairy products like cheese, yoghurt etc and it would also be a good idea to do 60-70 push ups and also it will be a good idea if you can manage to do abs contraction, you will eventually see good results. Good Luck !

You should eat less food that are high in calories and carbohydrates. Eat more veggies and foods rich in fiber. Exercise a lot.

There are a few exercises you can do to tone up but I find jogging the best way to get definition.

The myth of getting thin at no time! I think I have an experience to share. Don't believe whatever they say. If you want to lose some fat and do it permanantly and healthy then you have to lose it slowly. Losing fat the fast way will cause you many problems, believe me. Health problems mostly! Avoid it and chose to lose them in slow motion and healthy.
